Operation of the Function

The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system will warn the driver of an unavoidable collision.

Collision Warning

• To warn the driver of an approaching vehicle from the rear left/right of your vehicle, the outside rearview mirror will flash and a warning will appear in the cluster. At the same time, a warning sound will be heard. If the rear view monitor is operating, the warning will also appear on the infotainment system screen.
• The feature will operate when all of the following conditions are met:
-- Transmission is shifted to R (Reverse)
  -- Vehicle speed is below 5 mph (8 km/h)
-- Approaching vehicle is within approximately 82 ft (25 m) from the left and right side of your vehicle
  - Approaching vehicle speed from the left and right is above 5 km/h

Information

If the operating conditions are met, a warning will be given whenever a vehicle approaches from the left or right side, even if your vehicle speed is 0 km/h.

WARNING

Observe the following precautions when using the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system:

• For safety, change the settings after parking the vehicle in a secure location.
• If a warning message for any other feature is displayed or a warning sound is generated, the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist warning message may not be displayed and the warning sound may not be generated.
• You may not hear the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist warning sound if there is a lot of noise around you.
• The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system may warn the driver late or may not warn the driver depending on road and driving conditions.
• The driver must remain responsible for operating the vehicle. Do not rely solely on the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system. Instead, maintain a safe braking distance and, if necessary, press the brake pedal to reduce vehicle speed or stop the vehicle.
