If the Engine Stalls While Driving
- Gradually reduce speed while keeping the vehicle in a straight line. Carefully move off the road to a safe location.
- Turn on the hazard warning flashers.
- Try restarting the engine. If the vehicle does not start, contact an authorized HYUNDAI dealer or seek other qualified assistance.
If the Engine Stalls at an Intersection or Crossing
If the engine stalls at an intersection or crossing, and it is safe to do so, move the shift lever to N (Neutral), and then push the vehicle to a safe location.
If a Tire Goes Flat While Driving
If a tire goes flat while driving:
- Release the accelerator pedal and allow the vehicle to slow down while keeping it in a straight line. Do not brake suddenly or attempt to leave the road, as this may cause loss of vehicle control and an accident. When the vehicle has slowed to a safe speed, brake gently and steer off the road. Move as far off the road as possible and park on a firm, level surface. If you are on a divided highway, do not park in the median area between the two traffic lanes.
- When the vehicle stops, press the hazard warning button, move the shift lever to P (Park), apply the parking brake, and turn the ignition switch to the LOCK/OFF position.
- Ask all passengers to exit the vehicle. Make sure they all exit on the side of the vehicle away from traffic.
- When replacing the flat tire, follow the instructions provided later in this chapter.
