Folding the Rear Seat

The rear seatbacks can be folded down to make it easier to carry long items or to increase the cargo capacity of the vehicle.

WARNING

  • Never allow passengers to sit on top of a folded seatback while the vehicle is moving. This is not a proper seating position, and seat belts are not available for use. This could result in serious injury or death in the event of an accident or sudden stop.
  • Items carried with the rear seatback folded must not protrude higher than the top of the front seatbacks. This may cause cargo to slide forward and result in injury or damage during sudden stops.

To fold the rear seatback:

1. Set the front seatback to the upright position and, if necessary, slide the front seat forward.

2. Lower the rear head restraints to the lowest position by pressing and holding the release button and pushing the head restraint down.

3. Pull the seatback folding lever located in the luggage compartment.

4. Fold the seatback forward.

5. To use the rear seat, lift and pull the seatback rearward. Pull the seatback firmly until it locks into place with a click. Make sure the seatback is locked.

WARNING

When returning the rear seatback from the folded position to the upright position, hold the seatback and return it slowly. Make sure the seatback is fully locked in the upright position by pressing on the upper part of the seatback. In an accident or sudden stop, an unlocked seatback may allow cargo to move forward with great force and enter the passenger compartment, which may result in serious injury or death.

WARNING

Do not place items on the rear seats, as they cannot be properly secured and may strike vehicle occupants in a collision, resulting in serious injury or death.

WARNING

Make sure the engine is off, the shift lever is in P (Park), and the parking brake is firmly applied whenever loading or unloading cargo. Failure to take these steps may allow the vehicle to move if the shift lever is accidentally moved to another position.

Armrest

The armrest is located in the center of the rear seat. Pull the armrest down from the seatback to use it.
