Head Restraints

~1min read

The front and rear seats of the vehicle have adjustable head restraints. Head restraints provide passenger comfort and, most importantly, are designed to protect occupants from whiplash and other cervical spine injuries in a collision, especially a rear-end impact.

WARNING

To reduce the risk of serious injury or death in an accident, follow these precautions when adjusting head restraints:

  • Always properly adjust the head restraints for all occupants BEFORE starting the vehicle.
  • NEVER allow anyone to ride in a seat with the head restraints removed or installed upside down.
  • Adjust the head restraints so that the center of the head restraint is at the same height as the top of the eyes.
  • NEVER adjust the driver's head restraint position while the vehicle is in motion.
  • Adjust the head restraint as close to the occupant's head as possible. Do not use a seat cushion that holds the body away from the seatback.
  • Make sure the head restraint is locked in position after adjustment.

NOTICE

To avoid damage, NEVER strike or pull on the head restraints.

CAUTION

When there are no occupants in the rear seats, adjust the rear head restraints to the lowest position. A rear seat head restraint may reduce rear visibility.
