Clutch Slave Cylinder

CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER - COMPONENTS

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the clutch hydraulic line.

2. Unscrew the bolt securing the clutch slave cylinder.

INSPECTION

1. Check the clutch slave cylinder for fluid leaks.

2. Check the slave cylinder protective cap for damage.

DISASSEMBLY

1. Remove the clutch hydraulic hose (where equipped), bleed bolt, tee fitting, washers, valve plunger and spring, protective cap and pushrod.

2. Remove contamination from the piston bore in the slave cylinder.

3. Remove the piston from the slave cylinder using compressed air.

1. Wrap the slave cylinder in a rag to prevent the piston from flying out during removal and to prevent injury.

2. Apply compressed air gradually to prevent brake fluid from splashing and getting into your eyes or onto your skin.

INSPECTION BEFORE ASSEMBLY

1. Check the clutch slave cylinder for fluid leaks.

2. Check the slave cylinder protective cap for damage.

3. Check the inner surface of the slave cylinder body for rust and damage.

4. Measure the inner diameter of the slave cylinder with a bore gauge at three points along its length (near end, middle and far end of the body) and in two directions perpendicular to each other.

Measure the outer diameter of the piston with a micrometer. Replace the slave cylinder assembly if the clearance between the piston and the slave cylinder body exceeds the specified limit.

Specified limit: 0.15 mm

2. Install the protective cap and pushrod, valve spring and plunger, tee fitting, washers, bleed bolt, and clutch hydraulic hose (where equipped).

INSTALLATION

1. Lubricate the pushrod with the specified grease (for certain versions, lubricate the pin and the hole for the cotter pin with the specified grease).

Recommended grease: CASMOLY L9508

2. Install the slave cylinder and connect the clutch hydraulic line to it.
