CAUTION

Always keep the area around the filler plug, drain plug or dipstick clean before checking or draining any lubricant. This is especially important in dusty or sandy areas and when the vehicle is used on unpaved roads. Cleaning the plug and dipstick area will prevent dirt and sand from entering the engine and other mechanisms, which could cause damage.

Engine oil viscosity (thickness) affects fuel economy and cold weather operation (engine starting and engine oil flow). Low viscosity engine oils can provide better fuel economy and cold weather performance; however, higher viscosity engine oils are necessary for satisfactory lubrication in hot weather. Using oil of any viscosity other than the recommended may cause engine damage.

When selecting oil, consider the temperature range in which your vehicle will be operated until the next oil change. Refer to the table below to select the recommended oil viscosity.
