Inspection

  1. Disconnect the vapor hose from the PCV valve, then remove the PCV valve.
  2. Reconnect the PCV valve to the vapor hose.
  3. Start the engine and idle. Place a finger over the open end of the PCV valve to check that vacuum is present in the intake manifold.
    The plunger inside the PCV valve should move back and forth under vacuum.
  4. If there is no vacuum, clean or replace the vent hose.
