Emission Control System

Exhaust Emission Control System

~1min read

The exhaust emission control system is a highly efficient system that controls exhaust emissions and maintains high vehicle performance.

Catalytic Converter

To reduce carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas, all Hyundai vehicles are equipped with a monolithic three-way catalytic converter.

Vacuum Hoses, PCV Hoses and Water Hoses

Inspect the hose surfaces for damage from overheating or mechanical damage.

Hardened and brittle rubber, cracking, splits, tears, cuts, abrasion and severe swelling indicate hose deterioration.

Pay particular attention to inspecting surfaces adjacent to heat sources, such as the exhaust manifold.

Inspect the hose routing: hoses must not contact any heat source or moving parts, which can cause damage or mechanical wear. Inspect all hose connections, such as clamps and couplings; they must be secure and free of leaks. If there is any sign of damage or wear, replace the hoses immediately.

Fuel System (fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel system fittings and fuel filler cap)

Inspect the fuel lines and fuel system fittings for damage or leaks. Inspect the fuel filler cap for damage and proper sealing. Pay special attention to the fuel lines near heat sources, such as the exhaust manifold.

Ignition Distributor Cap, Rotor and Ignition Timing System

To ensure good vehicle drivability and exhaust emissions, inspect the ignition distributor cap, rotor and ignition timing system.
