Recommended Lubricants and Capacities

For optimal engine and powertrain performance and durability, use only lubricants of the proper quality. Correct lubricants also improve engine efficiency by reducing fuel consumption.

These lubricants and fluids are recommended for use in your vehicle.

*2 Oils labeled "Energy Conserving Oil" are now available. In addition to providing other benefits, they help reduce fuel consumption by reducing the amount of fuel needed to overcome engine friction. These improvements are often difficult to quantify in everyday driving, but over a year they can offer significant energy and cost savings.

*3 It is recommended that you use engine oils approved by HYUNDAI Motor Company. It is recommended that you consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer for details.

Recommended SAE Viscosity Numbers

NOTICE Always clean the area around fill caps, drain plugs, or dipsticks before checking or draining lubricants. This is especially important in dusty or sandy environments and when the vehicle is used on unpaved roads. Cleaning the cap and dipstick prevents dirt and sand from entering the engine and other mechanisms, where they could cause damage.

Engine oil viscosity affects fuel economy and operation in cold climates (engine starting and engine oil flow). Lower viscosity oils can provide better fuel economy and better performance in cold climates, but higher viscosity oils are required for good lubrication in hot climates.

Using oils with a viscosity other than the recommended one may cause engine damage. When choosing an oil, consider the temperatures in which the vehicle will be driven before the next oil change. Select the recommended viscosity according to the following chart.

*1. For better fuel economy, use engine oil with SAE 5W-30 viscosity grade (API SM / ACEA A5).

*2. For better fuel economy, use engine oil with SAE 5W-20 viscosity grade (API SM / ILSAC GF-4). However, if the engine oil is not available in your country, select the proper engine oil using the engine oil viscosity chart.

*3. In the Middle East, do not use engine oil with SAE 5W-20 viscosity grade.
