WARNING Carbon monoxide (CO) is poisonous. Inhaling CO can cause loss of consciousness and death. Engine exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide, which is invisible and odorless. Do not breathe exhaust fumes. If you ever smell exhaust fumes inside the vehicle, open the windows immediately. Exposure to CO can cause loss of consciousness and death by asphyxiation. Make sure there are no leaks in the exhaust system. The exhaust system must be checked every time the vehicle is raised for oil changes or other purposes. If you notice that the exhaust sound has changed or if you drive over something that strikes the underside of the vehicle, it is recommended that the system be checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer. Do not run the engine in enclosed spaces. Leaving the engine running in a garage, even with the door open, is dangerous. Never leave the engine running in the garage for longer than necessary to start the vehicle and drive it out. Avoid leaving the engine running for extended periods with people inside the vehicle. If this is necessary, make sure to do so only outdoors with fresh outside air intake and the fan at the highest speed, so that air is circulated inside the cabin. Keep the air intakes clean. To ensure proper operation of the ventilation system, make sure the air intakes in front of the windshield are free of snow, ice, leaves or other obstructions. If you must drive with the tailgate open: Close all windows. Open the air vents on the instrument panel. Set the fresh air intake control, the floor or face airflow, and the fan to the highest speed.
