Description

Ignition timing is controlled by the electronic ignition timing control system. Standard ignition timing reference data for operating conditions is programmed in the memory of the ECM (Engine Control Module). Engine operating conditions (engine speed, load, overheating condition, etc.) are detected by various sensors. Based on the signals from these sensors and the ignition timing data, the ignition signal is sent to the ECM. The ignition coil is energized and the timing is controlled.
