Electronic Power Steering (EPS)
The system assists you in steering the vehicle. If the engine is off or if the power steering is not operating, you can still steer the vehicle, but it will require more effort.
If you notice a change in the amount of effort required during normal driving, we advise you to have the system checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
NOTICE
If the power steering system is not operating normally, the warning light (
) illuminates on the instrument panel. You can still steer the vehicle, but it will require more effort. We recommend having your vehicle checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer as soon as possible.
Intelligent
The following symptoms may occur during normal operation of the vehicle.
- After the ignition is turned on, the steering wheel becomes heavier.
- This occurs when the system performs EPS diagnostics. Once this diagnostic is complete, the steering wheel will return to normal resistance.
- You may hear a click from the EPS relay after the ignition is turned to ON or LOCK.
- You may hear a motor noise when the vehicle is stopped or moving at low speed.
- When using the steering wheel in very cold weather, an abnormal noise may occur. If the temperature rises, this noise will disappear. This is normal.
