Your Vehicle's Safety System

Child Restraint System (CRS)

~2min read

WARNING

Never install a child restraint system on the front passenger seat unless the airbag has been deactivated.

At any age, children are safer in the rear seat of the vehicle. A child in the front passenger seat may be struck violently when the airbag deploys, which may result in SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH.

Children under 13 years old traveling in the vehicle must sit in the rear seat and must always be properly restrained to minimize the risk of injury in the event of an accident, sudden stop, or sudden maneuver. According to accident statistics, children are safer when properly secured in a rear seat than when placed in the front seat.

Even in vehicles equipped with airbags, children can be seriously injured or killed. Older children who do not fit the child restraint system must use one of the available seat belts.

Most countries have laws governing the use of child restraint systems. These laws require children to travel in approved child restraint devices. Age laws or age/weight/height limits under which seat belts may be used instead of child restraint systems vary from country to country, so you should learn the requirements of your own country and of the country you are travelling to.

You must use a child restraint system that is commercially available and complies with the safety standards in force in your country.

Child restraint systems are generally designed to be secured to the vehicle seats using the lap belt or part of the lap/shoulder belt with a three-point belt or with a top tether anchorage and/or ISOFIX lower anchorage point on the rear seat of the vehicle.

We recommend:

Always install the child restraint system (CRS) in the rear seat.

Infants and small children must be secured in a rear-facing or forward-facing child restraint system appropriate for them, installed correctly on the rear seat of the vehicle. Read and follow the instructions of the child restraint system manufacturer.

WARNING

  • Always follow the installation and use instructions of the child restraint manufacturer.
  • Always secure the child in a child restraint system appropriate for the child.
  • Never use a carrier or child seat that hangs over the seat back. These devices do not provide adequate protection in an accident.
  • After an accident, we recommend having the child restraint system, seat belts, lower anchorages and ISOFIX top tether anchorages inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
