Your Vehicle's Safety System

Airbag – Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)

~2min read

The airbags installed in your vehicle may differ from those shown in the illustration.

1. Driver's front airbag
2. Front passenger airbag
3. Side airbag
4. Curtain airbag
5. Front passenger airbag switch.

The vehicle is equipped with supplemental inflatable restraint systems for the driver's seat and front passenger seat.

The front airbags are designed to supplement the three-point seat belts. For these airbags to provide protection, the seat belts must always be worn whenever the vehicle is in motion.

You may be seriously injured or even killed in an accident if you do not wear your seat belt. Airbags are designed to supplement seat belts, not replace them. Airbags are not designed to deploy in every collision. In some accidents, seat belts are the only restraint that protects you.

WARNING

AIRBAG – PRECAUTIONS

Always use seat belts and child restraint systems on every trip, every time, for all occupants of the vehicle! Even with airbags, you can be seriously injured or even killed in a collision if you are not wearing your seat belt properly or if you are not wearing a seat belt when the airbag deploys.

Never place a child in a child restraint system or booster seat on the front seat if the airbag is not deactivated. A deploying airbag can strike an infant or child with great force, which may result in serious injury or even death.

We strongly recommend always securing children under 13 years old in the rear seat. The rear seat is the safest place for children. If a child over 13 years old sits in the front seat, they must be properly restrained and the seat must be moved as far back as possible.

All occupants must sit upright in their seat with the seatback in an upright position, centered on the seat cushion, with seat belts fastened, legs comfortably extended and feet resting on the floor, for as long as the vehicle is parked and the ignition key is removed. If an occupant is not in their proper position during an accident, the rapidly deploying airbag can forcibly strike the occupant and cause serious or even fatal injury.

You and your passengers should never sit or lean unnecessarily close to the airbags, or lean against the door or center console. Move the seat as far back from the front airbags as possible while maintaining easy access to the vehicle controls.
