If the Engine Stalls While Driving

  • Gradually reduce speed while keeping the vehicle in a straight line. Carefully move from the road to a safe location.
  • Turn on the hazard warning flashers.
  • Try to start the engine again. If your vehicle does not start, we recommend that you contact an authorized HYUNDAI repairer.

If the Engine Stalls at an Intersection or Crossing

If the engine stalls at an intersection or crossing, if it is safe, move the shift lever to N (Neutral) and then push the vehicle to a safe location.

If a tire goes flat while driving

If a tire goes flat while driving:

  • Release the accelerator pedal and allow the vehicle to slow down while keeping it moving straight ahead. Do not apply the brakes immediately or attempt to leave the road, as this may result in loss of vehicle control and cause an accident. When the vehicle has slowed to a speed at which it is safe to do so, carefully brake and pull off the road. Leave the road as far as possible and park on firm, level ground. If you are on a divided highway, do not park in the median area between the lanes. • When the vehicle is stopped, press the hazard warning flasher button, shift the transmission lever to P (Park, for automatic transmission/dual clutch transmission vehicles) or N (Neutral, for manual transmission vehicles), apply the parking brake and turn the ignition switch to the LOCK/OFF position.
  • Ask all passengers to exit the vehicle. Make sure they all exit on the side of the vehicle that is away from traffic.
  • When replacing a flat tire, follow the procedure described later in this chapter.
