Folding the Rear Seat
The rear seatbacks can be folded down to make it easier to carry long items or to increase the cargo capacity of the vehicle.
WARNING
- Never allow passengers to sit on the upper part of a folded seatback while the vehicle is moving. This is not a proper seating position, and seat belts are not available for use. This may result in serious injury or death in the event of a collision or sudden stop.
- Items carried with the seatback folded must not extend above the top of the front seatbacks. This may allow the cargo to slide forward and cause injury or damage during sudden stops.
To fold the rear seatback:
1. Set the front seat back to the upright position and, if necessary, slide the front seat forward.
2. Lower the rear headrests to the lowest position.

3. Place the seat belt buckle in the guide before folding the seatback to prevent the seat belt system from interfering with the seatback.

5. To use the rear seat, lift and raise the seatback to the upright position by pulling up the recline lever. Push firmly on the seatback until it locks into place. Make sure the seatback is locked.
6. Return the rear seat belt to its correct position.
WARNING
When returning the rear seatback from the folded position to the upright position, hold the seatback and return it slowly. Make sure the seatback is fully locked in the upright position by pressing on the upper part of the seatback. In an accident or sudden stop, an unlocked seatback may allow cargo to move forward with great force into the passenger compartment, which may result in serious injury or death.
WARNING
Do not place objects behind the seat, as they cannot be properly secured and may strike vehicle occupants in a collision, resulting in serious injury or death.
WARNING
Make sure the engine is off, the gear selector is in P (Park), and the parking brake is firmly applied when loading or unloading cargo. Failure to do so may allow the vehicle to move if the gear selector is accidentally moved out of position.
CAUTION
- Be careful when loading cargo through the rear passenger seat to prevent damage to the vehicle interior.
- When loading cargo through the rear passenger seats, make sure the cargo is properly secured to prevent it from moving while driving.
- Unsecured cargo in the passenger compartment may cause damage to the vehicle or injury to its occupants.
