GENERAL SERVICE INFORMATION

VEHICLE PROTECTION: Be sure to adequately cover the fenders, seats and front floor before starting work.TOOL AND MEASURING EQUIPMENT PREPARATION: Make sure all tools and measuring equipment are ready before starting work. SPECIAL SERVICE TOOLS: Use special service tools where required.
REMOVAL OF PARTS: First identify the cause of the problem, then determine what to disassemble or remove before starting work.
DISASSEMBLY: If the removal procedure is complex and requires removing numerous parts, all parts must be disassembled so as not to affect their performance or appearance.
  1. PARTS INSPECTION: When removed, each part must be inspected for possible malfunction, deformation, damage or other problems.
  2. PARTS LAYOUT: All disassembled parts must be stored neatly in a visible location for efficient work. Be sure to properly separate and identify parts to be replaced from those that will be reused.
  3. CLEANING OF PARTS FOR REUSE: All parts to be reused must be thoroughly cleaned using an appropriate method.
  4. Oil Seals
  5. Gaskets
  6. O-rings
  7. Lock Washers
  8. cotter pins
  9. plastic nuts
    Depending on their location.
  10. Sealant must be applied to the joints.
  11. Lubricate the moving parts of the components.
  12. Specified oil or grease must be applied to the specified areas (oil seals, etc.) before assembly.
  13. Be sure to disconnect the battery cable from the negative (-) terminal.
  14. Never pull on the cables when disconnecting connectors.
  15. You will hear a definite click once the connector is in place.
  16. Handle sensors and relays with care. Be careful not to drop them onto other parts.
  17. All measurements in this manual are taken with a pressure gauge.
  18. Before using a measuring tape, make sure it is not stretched, twisted or bent.
  19. Projected dimensions and dimensions shown in this manual use the actual measured values.
  20. These are dimensions measured by projecting the measuring points from the vehicle surface. They are reference dimensions used for structural repairs.
  21. If the length of the comparator legs is adjustable, perform the measurement by extending one of the legs by a length equal to the height difference between the two surfaces.
  22. These dimensions indicate the current linear distance between the measuring points. They are used as reference dimensions when a measuring device is used for measurement.
  23. First adjust the two clamps to the same length (A=A') before starting the measurement.
  24. Make sure the terminal is tightened.
  25. Make sure the terminals and wires are not corroded by battery electrolyte, etc.
  26. Make sure there is no open circuit in the terminals or wires.
  27. Check the insulation and covering of the wires for damage, cracks, or signs of wear.
  28. Check that the current-carrying parts of the terminals do not short to other metal parts (vehicle body, other metal parts, etc.).
  29. Check the grounding parts to make sure there is continuity between their mounting bolt(s) and the vehicle body.
  30. Check for correct connections.
  31. Make sure the wiring is securely clamped to avoid contact with sharp edges, the vehicle body, etc., or hot parts (exhaust manifold, etc.).
  32. Make sure the wiring is securely clamped and leaves clearance from the cooling fan pulley, fan belt, and other moving or rotating parts.
  33. Make sure the wiring has enough slack to allow vibration between stationary and moving parts, such as the body and the engine.
  34. Before servicing an electrical circuit, be sure to turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery negative cable.
  35. Secure wire harnesses with cable ties to prevent them from loosening. However, for any harness near the engine or other vibrating parts of the vehicle, leave a small amount of slack to prevent vibration from being transmitted. Only allow the harness to contact surrounding parts, then use a clamp to fix the harness.
  36. If any part of a wire harness contacts the edge or corner of these parts, wrap the harness with protective tape.
  37. When installing parts, be careful not to pinch or damage the wiring.
  38. Never discard relays, sensors, or other electrical components, and do not subject them to strong impacts.
  39. Electronic components used in the computer, relays, etc. are immediately damaged by heat. For operations that may cause the temperature to exceed 80 °C, first remove the electronic components.
  40. Loose connectors cause problems. Always make sure connectors are properly connected.
  41. When disconnecting a connector, do not pull on the cables. Pull only on the connector itself.
  42. Disconnect the connector by pressing the locking tab in the direction of the arrow, as shown in the illustration.
  43. Connect connectors with the locking tabs aligned, pushing them in until they click.
  44. When using a circuit tester to check continuity or voltage at connector terminals, always insert the probe from the harness side. If the connector is a waterproof type, insert the probe into the hole in the rubber cap, taking care not to damage the insulation of the wires.
  45. To avoid overloading the wiring, take the electrical current load of additional equipment into account and select a suitable wire size.

PARTS: Use genuine HYUNDAI parts when replacing components. REPLACEMENT: Specified values, such as torque values and specified settings, must be observed when assembling parts. When disassembled, the following parts must always be replaced with new ones. ADJUSTMENT: Use gauges and testers to adjust parts to specified values. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. RUBBER PARTS AND HOSES: Avoid getting gasoline or oil on rubber parts or hoses. BODY DIMENSIONS. MEASUREMENT. DESIGN DIMENSIONS. ACTUAL DIMENSIONS. MEASUREMENT. Measuring point: Measurements should be taken from the center of the hole. CABLE AND WIRE INSPECTION. FUSE INSPECTION: The blade-type fuse is equipped with test terminals for checking the fuse without removing it from the fuse block. If the fuse is good, the test lamp lights when connected to both test terminals. If one terminal is grounded, turn the ignition key to operate the fuse circuit. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING. CATALYTIC CONVERTER PRECAUTIONS.
  1. Use only unleaded gasoline.
  2. Do not leave the engine running when the vehicle is parked for a long time. Avoid running the engine at idle with the accelerator pressed for more than 10 minutes, or at idle for more than 20 minutes.
  3. Do not perform the engine compression test for too long. Check the engine compression as quickly as possible. Remove the fuel pump relay before checking compression.
  4. Do not place a used catalytic converter near parts contaminated with gasoline or oil.
