Hitch Ball

Information

The hitch mounting holes are located on both sides of the underbody behind the rear tires.

It is important to use the correct hitch equipment. Crosswinds, large trucks passing by, and uneven roads are some of the reasons you need the correct hitch. Follow these rules:

  • Do you need to make any holes in the body of your vehicle when installing the trailer hitch? If so, be sure to seal the holes later when you remove the hitch. If you do not seal them, carbon monoxide (CO) from your exhaust may enter your vehicle, as well as dirt and water.
  • The bumpers of your vehicle are not designed for towing. Do not attach rental hitches or other bumper-type hitches to them. Use only a frame-mounted trailer hitch that does not attach to the bumper.
  • Any part of the rear license plate or the vehicle's lamps must not be obscured by the hitch.
Hitch components that can obscure the rear license plate and/or rear lamps in part, and that cannot be easily removed or repositioned without using any tools other than easily operated devices (for example, a force not exceeding 20 N·m) such as the unlocking key supplied by the hitch manufacturer, are not permitted.
Note that an installed hitch that is not in use must always be removed or repositioned if any part of the hitch obscures the rear license plate and/or rear lamps.
  • The trailer hitch for the HYUNDAI can be purchased from an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

PLEDGE

If a separate battery is installed on the trailer, the 12-volt battery in the vehicle may discharge.

Safety Chains

Always attach safety chains between your vehicle and your trailer. Safety chain instructions may be provided by the hitch manufacturer or the trailer manufacturer. Follow the recommendation of the manufacturer for attaching the safety chains. Always leave just enough slack to allow you to turn with your trailer. And never allow the safety chains to drag on the ground.

Trailer Brakes

If your trailer is equipped with a brake system, make sure it complies with the regulations of your country and that it is properly installed and functioning correctly.

If your trailer weighs more than the maximum trailer weight without trailer brakes, you need your own brakes, and they must be adequate. It is essential that you read and follow the trailer brake instructions so that you can install, adjust and maintain them correctly. Make sure you have not modified your vehicle's brake system.

WARNING

Do not use a trailer with its own brakes unless you are sure you have correctly adjusted the brake system. This task is not for amateurs. Use an experienced, competent trailer shop for this work.
