There are certain types of accidents in which the airbag is not expected to provide additional protection. These include rear impacts, second or third collisions in multiple impacts, and low-speed impacts. The extent of vehicle damage indicates the collision energy absorbed and is not an indicator of whether the airbag should have deployed.
