Where are the air bags?
Driver and Passenger Front Air Bags

Your vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) and seat belts with lap/shoulder belts for both the driver and passenger seats.
The SRS consists of airbags located in the center of the steering wheel and the front passenger's instrument panel cover above the glove box.
The airbags are identified by the embossed words "AIR BAG" on the trim covers.
The purpose of the SRS is to provide the driver and front passengers with additional protection beyond that offered by the seat belt system alone in the event of a frontal impact of sufficient severity.
The SRS uses sensors to collect information about the severity of the impact and the use of the driver's and front passenger's seat belts.
Seat belt buckle sensors determine whether the driver's and front passenger's seat belts are fastened. These sensors allow the SRS deployment to be controlled depending on whether the seat belts are fastened and how severe the impact is.
The advanced SRS offers the ability to control airbag deployment in two stages. The first-stage level is provided for moderate-severity impacts. The second-stage level is provided for more severe impacts.
Based on impact severity and seat belt use, the SRS control module (SRSCM) controls airbag deployment. Failure to fasten seat belts properly may increase the risk or severity of injury in an accident.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious injury or death from front airbag deployment, observe the following precautions:
- Seat belts must always be worn to help occupants maintain the correct position.
- Move your seat as far back as possible from the front airbags while still maintaining control of the vehicle.
- Never lean against the door or center console.
- Do not allow the front passenger to place feet or legs on the instrument panel.
- Do not place any objects (such as an emergency hazard triangle cover, cell phone holder, cup holder, air fresheners, or stickers) on or near the airbag modules in the steering wheel, instrument panel, windshield, and front passenger side above the glove box. Such objects may cause injury if the vehicle is involved in a collision severe enough to deploy the airbags.
- Do not attach any objects to the windshield or rear view mirror.
