Side Airbags

Your vehicle is equipped with a side airbag for each seat. The purpose of the side airbags is to provide the driver and front passenger with additional protection beyond that provided by the seat belt alone.
The side airbags are designed to deploy only in certain side impacts, depending on the severity, angle, speed, and point of impact of the collision.
The side airbags deploy not only on the impact side but also on the opposite side.
For vehicles equipped with a rollover sensor, the side airbags and curtain airbags on both sides of the vehicle may deploy when a rollover or possible rollover is detected.
The side airbags are not designed to deploy in every side impact or rollover situation.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious injury or death from a side airbag deploying:
- Seat belts must always be worn to help passengers maintain the correct position.
- Do not allow passengers to lean their head or body against the doors, place their hands on the doors, extend their arms out of the window, or place objects between the doors and seats.
- Hold the steering wheel at the "9 o'clock" and "3 o'clock" positions to minimize the risk of hand and forearm injuries.
- Do not use any additional seat covers. They may reduce or prevent the effectiveness of the system.
- Do not place any objects over the side airbag or between the side airbag and yourself.
- Do not place any objects between the door and the seat. They may become dangerous projectiles if the side airbag deploys.
- Do not install any accessories on or near the side airbag.
- Do not slam the doors when the ignition key is in the ON position, otherwise the side airbags may deploy.
- If a seat or seat cover is damaged, have the vehicle inspected and repaired by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
