Floor Mat Safety Information

~1min read

Always use a floor mat designed for your vehicle. Use only a floor mat that does not interfere with the pedal assembly. Operate the vehicle only when the floor mat is securely fastened with the retainers so that it cannot slide out of position and interfere with the pedals or otherwise compromise the safe operation of your vehicle.

  • If you operate the vehicle without a floor mat, the floor may become hot and there is a risk of burns.
  • Improperly attached, damaged, folded, or damaged retainers may allow the floor mat to interfere with the accelerator, brake, or clutch pedal and result in loss of vehicle control. To avoid SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH: ALWAYS securely fasten the floor mat with the retainers.
  • ALWAYS keep objects from falling or sliding into the driver's side floor area while the vehicle is moving. Objects may become trapped under the accelerator pedal, brake pedal, or clutch pedal and may cause loss of vehicle control.
  • NEVER place any objects under the floor mat (such as towels, keys, etc.). These objects could move the floor mat and may cause interference with the accelerator, brake, or clutch pedal.
  • ONLY install a floor mat designed for your vehicle. NEVER place a floor mat that cannot be properly attached and secured to your vehicle. If a floor mat must be replaced, use only an FCA-approved floor mat specific to the make, model, and year of your vehicle.
  • If the vehicle floor mat is removed and reinstalled, always properly attach the floor mat to the floor and make sure the floor mat retainers are securely fastened to the vehicle carpet. Fully depress each pedal to check for interference with the accelerator, brake, or clutch pedal, then reinstall the floor mats.
