IN CASE OF EMERGENCY
IF YOUR ENGINE OVERHEATS
In this manual: IN CASE OF EMERGENCY
~1min read
If the vehicle overheats, it must be serviced by an authorized dealer.
In any of the following situations, you can reduce the likelihood of overheating by taking the appropriate action.
- On the highway — slow down.
- In city traffic, when stopped, shift into NEUTRAL, but do not increase engine speed above idle.
NOTE:
There are steps you can take to slow an impending overheating condition:
- If your air conditioner (A/C) is on, turn it off. The air conditioning system adds heat to the engine cooling system, and turning off the A/C may help remove this heat.
- You can also set the temperature control to maximum heat, the mode control to floor, and the fan control to high. This allows the heater core to act as an additional radiator and helps remove heat from the engine cooling system.
