To push or tow the vehicle in cases where the transmission will not shift out of PARK (P) (for example, a dead battery), the Manual Park Release is available.

Perform the following steps to use the Manual Park Release:

  1. Fully apply the parking brake.
  2. Using a small screwdriver or similar tool, remove the Manual Park Release cover located above the gear selector to access the release strap.

  5. Pull the strap up and to the left until the release lever locks in the vertical position. The vehicle is now out of PARK (P) and can be moved. Release the parking brake only when the vehicle is securely attached to the towing vehicle.

To reset the parking brake:

  1. Pull the strap upward, releasing it from the closed position.
  2. Push the Manual Park Release lever down and to the right, returning it to the original position.
  3. Route the release strap into the base of the console and reinstall the cover.
