Seat Belt Care

~1min read

Seat belt systems must never be disassembled or modified. In addition, care should be taken to ensure that seat belts and belt hardware are not damaged by seat, door hinges, or other abuse.

WARNING! Seat Belt Pinching

Make sure the straps and/or buckle do not get caught or pinched behind the seat when returning the seatback to the upright position. A caught or pinched strap/buckle may be damaged and may fail in a collision or sudden stop.

WARNING

Seat belts can become hot in a vehicle that has been closed in sunny weather. They could burn infants and children.

Periodic Inspection

All seat belts should be inspected periodically for wear or damage. Any damaged parts must be replaced as soon as possible.

Keep Belts Clean and Dry

Seat belts must be kept clean and dry. If the belts become dirty, they can be cleaned with a mild soap solution and warm water. Chemical substances should not be used on seat belts to avoid damage. When heated, seat belts can burn infants and children.

When to Replace Seat Belts

All seat belt assemblies or components in use must be replaced if the vehicle was involved in an accident. This should be done even if no damage is visible. Additional questions regarding the operation of seat belts should be directed to an authorized Kia dealer.
