Make sure the exhaust system does not leak.

The exhaust system should be inspected whenever the vehicle is serviced for an oil change or for any other purpose. If you hear a change in exhaust sound or if you drive over something that strikes the underside of the vehicle, have the exhaust system inspected immediately, if possible at an authorized Kia dealer.

WARNING - Engine Exhaust

Do not breathe exhaust gas or leave the engine running in an enclosed area for an extended period of time. Exhaust gas contains carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless gas that can cause unconsciousness and death by suffocation.

WARNING - Open Liftgate

Do not drive with the liftgate open. Poisonous exhaust gas may enter the passenger compartment. If you must drive with the liftgate open, proceed as follows:

1. Close all windows.

2. Open the side vents.

3. Set the air intake control to Fresh, set the airflow to Floor or Face, and set the fan to the highest speed.
