Child Restraint System (CRS) Selection
When selecting a CRS for your child, always:
- Make sure the CRS has a label certifying that it complies with applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS 213).
- Select a child restraint based on your child's height and weight. The required label or instructions for use usually provide this information.
- Select a child restraint suitable for the vehicle seating position where it will be used.
- Read and follow the warnings and installation instructions provided with the child restraint system.
WARNING - Holding Children
Never hold a child in your arms or on your lap while riding in a vehicle. The forces generated during an accident will tear the child from your arms and throw the child against the vehicle interior. Always use a child restraint system that is suitable for your child's height and weight.
CAUTION - Unattended Children
Never leave children unattended in the vehicle. The vehicle can heat up very quickly, resulting in injury to a child in the vehicle.
WARNING - Using Seat Belts
Do not use one seat belt for two occupants at the same time. This will eliminate any safety benefit provided by the seat belt to the occupants.
