What to Do in an Emergency

TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) Malfunction Indicator

~1min read

The low tire pressure warning light will flash for approximately one minute and then remain on when there is a problem with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System. If the system is able to correctly detect low tire pressure while a system malfunction is present, both the TPMS malfunction indicator and the low tire pressure indicator will illuminate. For example, if the front left sensor is faulty, the TPMS malfunction indicator will illuminate. However, if the front right, rear left, or rear right tire is underinflated, the low tire pressure indicators may illuminate together with the TPMS malfunction indicator.

Have the system checked by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible to determine the cause of the problem.

CAUTION

  • The TPMS malfunction indicator may illuminate when the vehicle is driven near electrical power lines or radio transmitters, such as those at police stations, government and public agencies, broadcasting stations, military facilities, airports, or transmission towers, etc. This may interfere with normal operation of the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
  • The TPMS malfunction indicator may illuminate if snow chains or certain electronic devices, such as a laptop computer, mobile phone charger, remote starter, or navigation system, are used in the vehicle. This may interfere with normal operation of the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
