Folding the Rear Seat
The rear seatbacks can be folded down to make it easier to carry long items or to increase the cargo capacity of the vehicle.
WARNING! Folded Seatback
Never allow passengers to sit on a folded seatback while the vehicle is moving. This is not a proper seating position, and seat belts are not available for use. This could result in serious injury or death in the event of an accident or sudden stop.
WARNING! Objects
Cargo carried with the seatback folded must not extend higher than the top of the front seatbacks. This could allow the cargo to slide forward and cause injury or damage during sudden stops.
To fold the rear seatback:
1. Set the front seat back to the upright position and, if necessary, slide the front seat forward.
2. Lower the rear head restraints to the lowest position.

3. Pull the rear seatback release handle (1) in the cargo area, then fold the seat forward toward the front of the vehicle.
4. To use the rear seat, lift and pull the seatback rearward. Pull the seatback until it clicks into place. Make sure the seatback is locked in place.
5. Return the rear seat belt to its proper position.
CAUTION
Use care when loading cargo through the rear passenger seat to avoid damaging the vehicle interior.
WARNING
If the driver's seat is properly adjusted for the driver's body size, do not fold down the rear seat. This may increase the risk of injury in a sudden stop or collision.
WARNING - Rear Seat Belts
When returning the rear seatbacks to the upright position, be sure to return the rear shoulder belts to their proper position.
WARNING - Rear Seatback
When returning the rear seatback from the folded position to the upright position, hold the seatback and return it slowly. Make sure the seatback is fully locked in the upright position by pushing on the top of the seatback. In an accident or sudden stop, an unlocked seatback may allow cargo to move forward with great force and enter the passenger compartment.
WARNING - Cargo
Do not place heavy objects on the rear seats, as they cannot be properly secured and may strike the vehicle occupants in a frontal collision.
