Installing a Child Restraint Using the LATCH Anchor System
In this manual: Safety Features of Your Vehicle
~1min read
To install a LATCH-compatible child restraint in one of the rear outboard seating positions:
1. Move the seat belt buckle away from the lower anchors.
2. Move any other objects away from the anchor that could prevent a secure connection between the child restraint and the lower anchors.
3. Install the child restraint on the vehicle seat, then attach the seat to the lower anchors according to the instructions provided by the child restraint manufacturer.
4. Follow the child restraint instructions to properly adjust and tighten the lower anchor connections on the child restraint.
WARNING
Observe the following precautions when using the LATCH system:
- Read and follow all installation instructions supplied with your child restraint system.
- To prevent a child from reaching and getting hold of unused seat belts, fasten all unused rear seat belts before placing a child in the vehicle. Lock all unused seat belts according to the instructions in the "Automatic Locking Retractor Mode" subsection and place the belt behind the child seat or seatback of the unused seat. Children can be strangled if the shoulder belt wraps around their neck and the seat belt tightens.
- NEVER attach more than one child restraint to a single anchor. This may cause the anchor or attachment to loosen or break.
- Always have the LATCH system inspected by your authorized Kia dealer after a collision. A collision may damage the LATCH system and may not properly secure the child restraint.
