Mode Control Actuator Inspection

Turn the ignition off.

Disconnect the mode control actuator connector.

Check that the mode control actuator operates to the defrost position when 12 V is applied to terminal 3 and ground is connected to terminal 4. Check that the mode control actuator operates to the vent position when the connection is reversed.

Connect the mode control actuator connector.

Turn the ignition on.

Check the voltage between terminals 5 and 6. Specification

Door Position	Voltage (V)	Fault Detection
vent	0,45±0,15	Low voltage: 0.1 V or less High voltage: 4.9 V or less
Defrost	4,55±0,15

It will report the current actuator position to the controls.

If the measured voltage does not meet the specification, replace with a known-good mode control actuator and check that the operation is correct.

Replace the mode control actuator if it is determined to be faulty.
