Auto Defog Actuator Inspection

Turn the ignition off.

Disconnect the auto defog actuator connector.

Check that the auto defog actuator operates to the open position when 12 V is applied to terminal 3 and ground is connected to terminal 4. Check that the auto defog actuator operates to the fully closed position when the connection is reversed.

Connect the defogger actuator connector.

Turn the ignition on.

Check the voltage between terminals 6 and 7. Specification

Auto Defog OFF (Closed)	0,45±0,15	Low voltage: 0.1 V or less High voltage: 4.9 V or less
Auto Defog ON (Open)	4,55±0,15

It will report the current actuator position to the controls.

If the measured voltage does not meet the specification, replace with a known-good auto defog actuator and check that the operation is correct.

Replace the auto defog actuator if it is determined to be faulty.
