Water Pump Removal and Installation

Loosen the drain plug, then drain the engine coolant. Remove the radiator cap to drain the coolant faster.

Remove the drive belt by turning the drive belt tensioner counterclockwise. (Refer to Timing System - "Drive Belt")

Remove the water pump pulley (A).

Tightening torque: 7.8 ~ 9.8 N·m

Remove the water pump assembly (A) with the gasket.

Tightening torque: 9.8 ~ 11.8 N·m

Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield. (Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "Exhaust Manifold")

Remove the water pump housing (B) with the gasket and the water inlet pipe (A). Tightening torque: Bolt (A): 9.8 ~ 11.8 N·m Bolt (B): 18.6 ~ 24 N·m

Install in the reverse order of removal, using a new water pump gasket.

Fill the engine coolant.

Start the engine and check for leaks.

Recheck the coolant level.
