The Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKPS) detects the position of the crankshaft and is one of the most important sensors in the engine control system. If there is no CKPS input signal, the engine may stop due to the lack of a CKPS signal. This sensor is installed on the cylinder block or transaxle case and generates an AC voltage by means of the magnetic flux field created by the sensor and the target wheel while the engine is running. The target wheel has 58 slots and 2 missing slots at every 360 degrees CA (crank angle).
