Injector

The GDI injector is similar to a standard injector, but it sprays fuel directly into the combustion chamber at a much higher pressure and has a swirl disc so that the fuel swirls as it exits the injector. This promotes fuel atomization. The ECM controls both supply circuits (high-pressure side) to apply voltage to the injectors and ground circuits (low side) to power the injectors. In addition, the 2 injectors are supplied from the same driver set. As the ignition coils are paired with cylinders (1-4 and 2-3), the injectors are also arranged in pairs.
