Camshaft Position Sensor (CMPS)

The Camshaft Position Sensor (CMPS) is a Hall-effect sensor and detects the position of the camshaft using a Hall element. It works together with the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKPS) and detects the position of each piston, which the CKPS system cannot detect. The CMPS is installed on the cylinder head cover and uses a target wheel installed on the camshaft. The camshaft position sensor is a Hall-effect sensor. As the target wheel passes the Hall sensor, the magnetic field in the sensor changes. The sensor then switches the signal, producing a square wave.
