ATF Heater Description

The ATF heater is installed on the valve body cover to reduce oil viscosity and friction by raising oil temperature when cold, which in turn improves fuel efficiency. It is installed as standard at the inlet of the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) module, as shown in the diagram, and minimizes the effect on the passenger compartment heating system.

• Engine coolant is used to circulate heat to warm up and cool the transmission fluid.
• Quickly raises the transmission oil temperature during initial cold engine start-up.
• Prevents overheating of the transmission oil while the vehicle is moving.
• Heating and cooling of the transmission fluid can be performed by a single system.
• Water coolant and oil are separated for heat exchange.
