Inspection

Check the ECM functions with the following procedures:
  1. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
  2. Cover the front sensor.
  3. Light flash onto the rear view sensor.
  4. The ECM should dim immediately when light is detected by the rear view sensor.
    If this test is performed during the daytime, the ECM may darken as soon as the front sensor is covered.
  5. When reverse gear is engaged, the ECM should not dim. When light strikes the front-facing sensors and the rear-facing sensors, the ECM should not dim.

Removal

  1. Remove the mirror wiring cover (A).
  2. Disconnect the ECM mirror connector (B).
  3. Loosen the mounting screw (B).
  4. Push up on the ECM mirror base to remove the ECM mirror assembly (A).
    Do not damage the mounting bracket when removing the mirror.

Installation

  1. Install the mirror, making sure the mounting bracket is not damaged.
  2. Install the mirror wiring cover after reconnecting the connector and tightening the screw.
    • Make sure the connectors are connected correctly.
    • Replace all damaged clips.
