Inspection

Smart Key Unit
  • Refer to Smart Key System - "Smart Key Diagnostics".
Smart Key Switch
  • Refer to Smart Key System - "Smart Key Diagnostics".
Antenna
  • Refer to Smart Key System - "Smart Key Diagnostics".
Trunk Lid Open Switch
  1. Check the continuity between the terminals of the trunk lid opener switch.
  2. If continuity is not as specified, inspect the switch.

Removal

Smart Key Unit
  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the driver airbag module assembly. (Refer to Body - "Driver Airbag Module Assembly")
  3. Loosen the mounting bolts and nut on the smart key unit bracket.
  4. Remove the smart key unit (B) after disconnecting the connector (A) from the smart key unit.
  5. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  6. Remove the floor console assembly. (Refer to Body – Floor Console Assembly)
  7. Disconnect the connector (A) from the internal antenna.
  8. Remove the internal antenna (A) after loosening the mounting nuts.
  9. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  10. Disconnect the connector (A) from the internal antenna 2.
  11. Remove the internal antenna 2 (B) after loosening the mounting nuts.
    When removing the internal antenna 2, it is not necessary to remove the rear seat back assembly.
  12. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  13. Remove the rear bumper cover. (Refer to Body - Rear Bumper Cover)
  14. Disconnect the connector (A), then remove the rear bumper antenna (B) by loosening the mounting screws.
  15. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  16. Remove the front left wheel guard.
  17. Remove the buzzer (B) after disconnecting the connector (A).
  18. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  19. Remove the front door module. (Refer to Front Door - "Front Door Module")
  20. Remove the hole plug (A).
  21. Loosen the mounting bolt, then remove the front door outside handle cover (B).
  22. Remove the front door outside handle (A) by sliding it rearward.
  23. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  24. Remove the rear door trim panel. (Refer to Body - "Rear Door Trim")
  25. Disconnect the connector of the tailgate open switch (A).
  26. Remove the tailgate switch (A).

Installation

Smart Key Unit
  1. Install the smart key unit.
  2. Connect the connector and install the smart key unit.
  3. Install the driver airbag module assembly.
  4. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal and check the smart key system.
  5. Install the internal antenna.
  6. Install the floor console assembly.
  7. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal and check the smart key system.
  8. Install the internal antenna 2.
  9. Install the rear seat back assembly.
  10. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal and check the smart key system.
  11. Install the bumper exterior antenna.
  12. Install the rear bumper cover.
  13. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal and check the smart key system.
  14. Install the buzzer.
  15. Install the front left wheel guard.
  16. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal and check the smart key system.
  17. Install the outside door handle.
  18. Install the door trim panel.
  19. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal and check the smart key system.
  20. Install the luggage compartment door opener switch.
  21. Install the liftgate trim.
  22. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal and check the smart key system.
