Recommended Lubricants and Capacities

~2min read

To achieve proper engine and transmission performance and durability, use only lubricants of the proper quality. Proper lubricants also contribute to engine efficiency, which improves fuel economy.

These lubricants and fluids are recommended for use in your vehicle.

*1 : Refer to the recommended SAE viscosity values on the next page.
*2 : Engine oils labeled Energy Conserving Oil are now available. Along with other additional benefits, they help improve fuel economy by reducing the amount of fuel needed to overcome engine friction. These improvements are often difficult to measure in everyday driving, but over a year they can offer significant cost and energy savings.
*3 : Regardless of oil change intervals, replace the oil immediately if the rear differential or front differential has been submerged in water.
*4 : Be sure to fill with LSD-exclusive oil when replacing the rear differential. (For LSD) Oil.

Recommended SAE Viscosity Index

The viscosity (thickness) of engine oil affects fuel economy and cold-weather operation (engine starting and engine oil flow). Engine oils with lower viscosity may provide better fuel economy and cold-weather performance; however, higher viscosity engine oils are necessary for adequate lubrication in hot weather. Using oil of any viscosity other than the recommended may cause engine damage. When selecting oil, consider the temperature range in which the vehicle will operate until the next oil change. Refer to the chart to select the recommended oil viscosity.

*1 : For better fuel economy, SAE 5W-30 viscosity engine oil (API SM/ILSAC GF-4 or higher) is recommended. However, if this engine oil is not available in your country, select a suitable engine oil based on the engine oil viscosity chart.
*2 : For better fuel economy, SAE 0W-30 viscosity engine oil (API SN or higher) is recommended. However, if this engine oil is not available in your country, select a suitable engine oil based on the engine oil viscosity chart.
