Inspection

  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2. Disconnect the ambient temperature sensor.
  3. Check whether the resistance of the ambient air temperature sensor between the "+" and "-" terminals changes as the ambient temperature changes.

    [°C(°F)]
    Resistance [kΩ] Voltage [V]
    -30(-22) 480,41 4,71
    -20(-4) 271,21 4,50
    -10(14) 158,18 4.20

    40(104) 16.13 1,75
    50(122) 10,95 1,34
  4. If the measured resistance is not within specification, replace the sensor with a known good ambient air temperature sensor and check that it operates correctly.
  5. If the problem is resolved, replace the ambient temperature sensor.

Replacement

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the front bumper cover. (Refer to Body - "Front Bumper Cover")
  3. Disconnect the ambient air temperature sensor connector (A).
  4. Remove the ambient air temperature sensor (B).
  5. Install in the reverse order of removal.
