Seat Belt Care
Seat belt systems must never be disassembled or modified. In addition, care must be taken to ensure that the seat belts and seat belt hardware are not damaged by seat hinges, doors, or other abuse.
WARNING
- When returning the rear seatback to the upright position after it has been folded down, be careful not to damage the seat belt webbing or buckles. Make sure the webbing or buckle is not caught or pinched by the rear seat. A seat belt with damaged webbing or buckle may fail in a collision or sudden stop, resulting in serious injury. If webbing or buckles are damaged, replace them immediately.
- Seat belts can become very hot in a vehicle that has been closed in sunny weather. They can burn infants and children.
Periodic Inspection
All seat belts should be periodically inspected for wear or damage. Any damaged parts must be replaced as soon as possible.
Keep Belts Clean and Dry
Seat belts should be kept clean and dry. If the belts become soiled, they can be cleaned with a mild soap solution and warm water. Bleach, dye, strong detergents or abrasives must not be used, because they can damage and weaken the webbing.
When to Replace Seat Belts
The entire seat belt assembly that was in use must be replaced if the vehicle was involved in an accident, even if no damage is visible. In this case, have the system replaced by a professional workshop. Kia recommends contacting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
