Head Restraint

The driver and front passenger seats are equipped with head restraints for occupant safety and comfort. The head restraint not only provides comfort for the driver and front passenger, but also helps protect the head and neck in the event of a collision.
WARNING
- For maximum effectiveness in the event of an accident, the head restraint should be adjusted so that the center of the head restraint is at the same height as the center of gravity of the occupant's head. Generally, the center of gravity of most people's head is similar to the height of the top of their eyes. Also adjust the head restraint as close to the head as possible. For this reason, the use of a cushion that holds the body away from the seatback is not recommended.
- Do not drive the vehicle with the head restraints removed, as occupants may be seriously injured in an accident. Head restraints can provide protection against neck injuries when properly adjusted.
- Do not adjust the driver's seat head restraint while the vehicle is in motion.
CAUTION
When there are no occupants in the rear seats, adjust the rear seat head restraint height to the lowest position. A rear seat head restraint may reduce rear visibility.
Up and Down Height Adjustment

To raise the head restraint, pull it up to the desired position (1). To lower the head restraint, press and hold the release button (2) on the head restraint support and push the head restraint down to the desired position (3).

CAUTION
If the seatback is folded forward with the head restraint and seat cushion raised, the head restraint may contact the sun visor or other parts of the vehicle.
Removal and Installation

To remove the head restraint:
1. Tilt the seatback (2) using the recline lever (1).
2. Raise the head restraint as far as it will go.
3. Press the head restraint release button (3) while pulling the head restraint up (4).
WARNING
NEVER allow anyone to ride in a seat with the head restraint removed.

To reinstall the head restraint:
1. Insert the head restraint posts (2) into the holes while pressing the release button (1).
2. Tilt the seatback (4) using the recline lever (3).
3. Adjust the head restraint to the desired height.
WARNING
Always make sure the head restraint is locked in place after reinstallation and properly adjusted.
Forward and Backward Adjustment

The head restraint can be adjusted forward to 4 different positions by pulling the head restraint forward to the desired position. To adjust the head restraint to the rearmost position, pull it fully forward to the front position and release it. Adjust the head restraint so that it properly supports the head and neck.
WARNING
A gap may appear between the seat and the head restraint release button when sitting on the seat or when pushing or pulling the seat. Be careful not to pinch your finger, etc.
