Folding the Rear Seat
The rear seat backs can be folded down to facilitate transporting long items or to increase the cargo capacity of the vehicle.
WARNING - Folded Seatback
Never allow passengers to sit on a folded seatback while the vehicle is moving. This is an improper seating position and the seat belts are not available for use. This may result in serious injury or death in the event of an accident or sudden stop.
WARNING! Objects
Items carried on the folded seatback must not extend above the top of the front seatbacks. This may allow the cargo to slide forward and cause injury or damage during sudden stops.

To fold the rear seatback (if equipped):
1. When folding the seatback, insert the rear seat belt buckle into the pocket between the rear seatback and cushion, then make sure both seat belts do not interfere with the stowed luggage and cargo. Then insert the seat belt into the two openings located on both sides.
2. Place the front seatback in the upright position and, if necessary, move the front seat forward.
3. Lower the rear headrests to their lowest position.

4. Pull the release lever and fold the rear seatback forward and down.
To unfold the rear seat
1. To use the rear seat, lift and pull the seatback rearward. Pull the seatback firmly until it clicks into place. Make sure the seatback is locked. When returning the seatback to the upright position, always make sure it locks in place by pressing on the upper part of the seatback.
2. Return the rear seat belt to the correct position.
3. When the seatback is fully raised, check the seatback folding lever again.
When returning the rear seatbacks to the upright position, make sure the rear shoulder belts are correctly positioned.
CAUTION
Be careful when loading cargo through the rear passenger seats to avoid damaging the vehicle interior.
WARNING
If the driver's seating position is not properly set according to your physique, do not fold down the rear seat. This may increase the risk of body injury in a sudden stop or collision.
WARNING - Upright Seating
When returning the seatback to the upright position, hold the seatback and return it slowly. If the seatback is returned without holding it, the seatback may spring forward, which may cause injury from being struck by the seatback.
WARNING
When returning the rear seatback to the upright position after folding down:
Be careful not to damage the seat belt webbing or buckle. Do not allow the seat belt webbing or buckle to be pinched or trapped by the rear seatback. Make sure the seatback is fully locked in the upright position by pressing on the upper part of the seatback. Otherwise, in an accident or sudden stop, the seatback may fold forward and allow cargo to enter the passenger compartment, which may result in serious injury or death.
WARNING - Cargo
Cargo must always be secured to prevent it from being thrown around the vehicle in a collision and injuring vehicle occupants. Do not place items on the rear seats, as they cannot be properly secured and may strike the front passenger seatback in a collision.
WARNING! Objects
Items carried on a folded-down rear seatback must not extend above the top of the front seatbacks. Otherwise, the cargo may slide forward and cause injury or damage during sudden stops.
