Make sure the exhaust system has no leaks.

The exhaust system should be inspected whenever the vehicle is lifted for oil changes or for any other purpose. If you notice a change in exhaust sound or if you drive over something that strikes the underbody, have the exhaust system inspected by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible.

WARNING - Engine Exhaust

Do not breathe engine exhaust gases or leave the engine running in an enclosed area for a long period.

Exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless gas that can cause loss of consciousness and death by asphyxiation.

WARNING - Open Trunk/Tailgate

Do not drive with the trunk/tailgate open.

Toxic exhaust gases may enter the passenger compartment. If you must drive with the trunk/tailgate open, perform the following:

1. Close all windows.

2. Open the side vents.

3. Set the air intake control to Fresh, the airflow mode control to Floor or Face, and the blower to maximum speed.
