If Trouble Occurs

The warning buzzer is activated

~7min read

Headlight-on reminder

If the headlights are on and the ignition switch is in ACC or OFF, a continuous beep sounds when the driver's door is opened.

NOTE

When the ignition switch is turned to ACC, the "Warning Buzzer for Ignition Switch Not in the STOP Position" (page 7-41) cancels the headlight-on reminder buzzer.

A customizable function can be used to change the volume of the headlight-on reminder buzzer.

Refer to Customization Features on page 9-9.

Front Seat Belt Pretensioner/Airbag Warning Buzzer

If a malfunction is detected in the front seat belt pretensioner/airbag systems or their warning lights, a warning buzzer sounds for about 5 seconds every minute.

The front seat belt pretensioner/airbag warning buzzer will continue to sound for about 35 minutes.

Have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Mazda dealer as soon as possible.

WARNING

Do not drive the vehicle while the front seat belt pretensioner/airbag warning buzzer is sounding:

Driving the vehicle while the front seat belt pretensioner/airbag warning buzzer is sounding is dangerous. In a collision, the airbags and front seat belt pretensioners will not deploy, which may result in death or serious injury.

Contact an authorized Mazda dealer to have the vehicle inspected as soon as possible.

Seat Belt Reminder Buzzer

If the driver's seat belt is not fastened when the ignition switch is turned to ON, a beep sounds for approximately 6 seconds.

If the driver's or front passenger's seat belt is not fastened and the vehicle is driven at a speed exceeding approximately 20 km/h, the beep sounds again for a specified period of time.

NOTE

  • Some models do not have the front passenger seat belt reminder function.
  • If heavy objects are placed on the front passenger seat, the front passenger seat belt warning light/beep function may activate, depending on the weight of the objects.
  • To allow the front passenger seat load sensor to operate correctly, do not use an additional cushion on the seat. The sensor may not operate correctly because the additional cushion will interfere with it.
  • When a small child sits in the front passenger seat, the alarm beep may not sound.

Ignition switch not turned off (STOP) buzzer

If the driver's door is opened while the ignition switch is in the ACC position, a continuous beep sounds to warn the driver that the ignition switch is not turned off (STOP). (For vehicles equipped with a Type A instrument cluster, messages are shown on the instrument panel.) The keyless entry system will not operate, the vehicle cannot be locked, and the battery will discharge.

Under the following conditions, a beep sounds and the KEY indicator (red) flashes continuously if the ignition switch is not in the off position, to warn the driver that the key has been removed. (For vehicles equipped with a Type A instrument cluster, messages are shown on the instrument panel.) The KEY indicator (red) stops flashing once the key is returned to the vehicle. (For vehicles equipped with a Type A instrument cluster, messages are shown on the instrument panel.) Conditions: The ignition switch is not turned to the off position and all doors are closed after the key is removed from the vehicle. (The beep sounds 6 times.)

NOTE

Because the key uses low-intensity radio waves, the Key Removed from Vehicle warning may be activated if the key is carried together with a metal object or if it is in an area where signal reception is poor.

Buzzer Control switch unusable (with advanced keyless entry function)

If the control switch is pressed under the following conditions while the driver is carrying the key, a beep sounds for approximately 2 seconds to indicate that the front doors and trunk cannot be locked.

  • A door is open (or not fully closed).
  • The ignition switch is not turned off.

Buzzer Key left in trunk (with advanced keyless entry function)

If the key is left in the trunk while all doors are locked and the trunk lid is closed, a beep sounds for approximately 10 seconds to warn the driver that the key has been left in the trunk. If this occurs, open the trunk lid using the power trunk opener switch and remove the key. If a key is removed from the trunk, it may not function because its functions may have been temporarily suspended. To restore normal key operation, follow the applicable procedure (page 3-8).

Buzzer Key left in vehicle (with advanced keyless entry function)

If a key is left inside the vehicle and all doors and the trunk are locked using a separate key, a beep sounds for approximately 10 seconds to warn the driver that the key has been left inside the vehicle.

In this case, the doors and trunk will be locked, but the functions of the key left inside the vehicle may be temporarily suspended.

To restore normal key operation, follow the applicable procedure (page 3-8).

Tire pressure monitoring buzzer

The buzzer sounds for approximately 3 seconds if there is a tire inflation pressure abnormality (page 4-121).

Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) audible alert

While the system is active, if the system determines that the vehicle may be leaving its lane, it sounds an audible alert.

NOTE

  • The volume of the LDWS audible alert can be changed.

Refer to Customization Features on page 9-9.

  • The type of sound of the LDWS audible alert can be changed.
  • Refer to Customization Features on page 9-9.

Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) system buzzer

    Driving forward

The warning beep operates when the turn signal lever is operated in the direction in which the BSM indicator is illuminated.

    NOTE

A customizable function is available to change the volume of the BSM warning beep. Refer to Customization Functions on page 9-9.

    Reversing

If vehicles approach from the rear on both the left and right sides, the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) warning beep sounds.

Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) System Warnings

Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) system warnings alert the driver to system malfunctions and, where applicable, to precautions for use.

    Check based on beep sound.

    Cautions What to check
The beep sounds 1 time when the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) operates. The vehicle speed is less than 25 km/h and the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) has been canceled.
The beep sounds 5 times while driving. The distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead is too short.
Check the safety of the surrounding area and reduce the vehicle speed. When the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) operates, the beep sounds and the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) indicator (amber) flashes on the instrument panel. This may indicate a system problem. Have your vehicle inspected by an authorized Mazda dealer.

    Collision warning

If there is a possibility of a collision with a vehicle or obstacle ahead of you, a continuous warning beep sounds and a warning is shown in the display.
