Removing and refitting a front side airbag

REMOVAL AND REFITTING

  • Deactivate the airbag system.
  • Move the front seat fully forward.
  • Remove the rear section of the front seat backrest.
  • Remove the screws (1) (Fig.7).
  • Fold the side airbag (2) outward until the electrical connector is accessible.
  • Unlock the connector (3) of the igniter (4).
  • Remove the side airbag (2).

To refit, carry out the removal procedure in reverse and observe the following points:

  • make sure the locking hooks (5) of the airbag are correctly positioned in the seatback frame recesses,
  • the earth cable eyelet (6) is secured with the side airbag,
  • return the airbag system to service,
  • connect the diagnostic system and read the fault memory.
