Loading guidelines
Place and secure the load in accordance with these guidelines.
Otherwise, the load could injure someone in the event of heavy braking, sudden changes of direction or an accident.
For more information, see the section "Securing cargo".
Even if the loading guidelines are observed, any additional load increases the risk of injury in an accident.
WARNINGMake sure the tailgate is closed while driving. Otherwise, exhaust gases may enter the passenger compartment and you may be poisoned.
The handling of a loaded vehicle depends on how the load is distributed. Therefore, load the vehicle and transport the load in accordance with the following guidelines:
- Make sure that the gross vehicle weight rating and the permissible axle loads are not exceeded due to the payload, including occupants.
- Place heavy loads as far forward in the vehicle as possible and as low as possible in the cargo area.
- Do not load higher than the upper edge of the backrests.
- Always secure the load against the backrests of the rear seat or the front seats. Make sure the backrests are locked correctly.
- Use the cargo net to transport objects.
- The maximum load of the storage compartment located under the cargo area floor is 25 kg.
- Whenever possible, always transport the load behind unoccupied seats.
- Secure the load with tie-down devices that resist tearing and abrasion. Cover sharp edges.
You can obtain load securing equipment from a qualified workshop.
Do not load the folding load floor unevenly, or with more than 100 kg.To avoid damaging the floor, distribute the load evenly. If necessary, place a sturdy plate under the load. Note that the stresses on the floor increase when the load is secured.
