If the battery voltage becomes too low, a message or warning code 174 is shown in the driver information centre.

  1. Immediately switch off electrical consumers that are not essential for driving safety, such as seat heating, the rear window heater or other electrical accessories.
  2. To recharge the battery, keep driving for some time or use a battery charger.

The message or warning code will disappear after the engine has been started twice and is running without a voltage drop.

If the battery cannot be recharged, have a workshop remedy the cause of the fault.
