Checks

Checks

~2min read

Unless otherwise specified, check the following components in accordance with the warranty booklet, depending on your vehicle's engine.

The check can be carried out by a PEUGEOT dealer or a specialist workshop.

Battery

The battery does not require checking.

Nevertheless, check that the terminals are clean and tight, especially in summer and winter.

Before carrying out any work on the battery, read the "Practical information" section for information on disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

Air filter and cabin filter

Filter replacement intervals are given in the warranty booklet.

Depending on external conditions (dusty atmosphere...) and how the vehicle is used (city driving...), replace the filters twice as often.

A dirty cabin filter can reduce air conditioning efficiency and cause unpleasant odours.

Particulate filter (Diesel)

Illumination of the service warning light and a special message indicates that the particulate filter is starting to clog.

As soon as road conditions allow, regenerate the filter by increasing speed to at least 60 km/h and keep driving until the service warning light goes out.

Particulate filter cleaning must be carried out at a PEUGEOT DEALER or at a specialist workshop.

After prolonged driving at low speed or at low engine speed, water vapour may be seen coming from the exhaust during acceleration.

This has no effect on vehicle behaviour or on the environment.

Oil filter

Replace the oil filter at
every engine oil change.

Replacement intervals for this component are given in the warranty booklet.

Manual transmission

The manual gearbox
requires no maintenance (no replacement).

Refer to the warranty booklet for the level check intervals of this component.

Automatic Transmission

The manual gearbox
requires no maintenance (no replacement).

Refer to the warranty booklet for the inspection intervals of this component.

Brake pads

Brake pad wear
depends on driving style, especially for vehicles used in town on short journeys.

Inspection may be necessary even between scheduled services.

Apart from a leak in the system, a drop in brake fluid level indicates brake pad wear.

Degree of wear of brake discs / drums

All information concerning
the inspection of brake disc and/or drum wear is available from a PEUGEOT DEALER or at a specialist workshop.

Parking brake

Excessive handbrake travel
or loss of system effectiveness requires adjustment, even between services.

The system must be checked at a PEUGEOT DEALER or at a specialist workshop.

Use only products recommended by PEUGEOT or products of similar quality and technical specification. To optimise the operation of critical components such as the braking system, PEUGEOT selects and recommends specific products.

To avoid damaging electrical components, do not clean the engine compartment with a pressure washer.
